Orthoplasties are toe braces, removable, custom-designed to treat deformities and their consequences:
- Postural orthoplasties are made to decrease reducible deformities.
- Night orthoplasties help maintain a corrected posture.
- Day orthoplasties worn in the shoe, are made of very flexible silicone elastomer. They can avoid elective pressure at the area to be protected by transferring it to the periphery. They are able to remove pressure and therefore regress hyperkeratosis. They represent complement the treatment of many chronic diseases.
- Orthoplasties in children are meant to permanently correct the toes. In this case the hardness of the silicone is higher, and the thicknesses are reduced (→ overlapping toes, hallux valgus).
