Custom made wrist hand orthosis are used for a variety of conditions such for positioning/stabilizing of the wrist and/or fingers or to stop a joint from flexing or extending excessively. It can also be used for fracture management. 

They are usually made of thermoplastic or ultra light carbon fibres material. 

The manufacturing starts with a cast of the arm in the desired position.
