The wrist is made up of several joints giving it a high level of flexion / extension and abduction / adduction mobility. The most common cause of wrist injury is a fall or twist, which can cause a mild or severe sprain, fracture or dislocation. The wrist can also suffer from osteoarthritis, a degenerative disease that primarily affects the thumb (basal thumb arthritis). 

ACTION PRINCIPLE: 

Wrist, thumb and/or wrist-thumb immobilisation splints hold one or more joints in a resting position. 

The objective is to limit pain and stabilise the joint(s) in the desired therapeutic position while maintaining mobility in the adjacent zones. 

This allows consolidation and healing.
